This year’s theme, “Celebrating 20 Years of ANZLAA: Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future,” invites contributions that reflect both our shared history and the innovations shaping what comes next. ANZLAA 2026 will highlight the strength of local expertise and celebrate achievements across our community.
Abstracts may address (but are not limited to) the following areas:

Exploring how animal care and use practices have evolved over the past 20 years and whether these changes have resulted in measurable, meaningful welfare improvements.
Pain, Procedure & Progress
Examining the role of veterinarians and welfare professionals in research design, pain management, procedural refinement, and advancing humane science.
Measuring What Matters
Focusing on how we assess and demonstrate impact through education, communication, culture, data, and meaningful welfare metrics.
Policy & Compliance
Addressing the balance between regulatory requirements, WHS obligations, ethical governance, and the pursuit of best practice standards.
Operations Behind the Scenes
Highlighting the practical realities of facility management, including daily operations, leadership, resource coordination, and maintaining high welfare
outcomes.

Oral Abstract submissions for the ANZLAA Conference 2026 have now closed.
The conference will take place on 27–28 August 2026 at Royal On The Park, located in the heart of Brisbane.
Thank you to everyone who submitted an abstract for consideration. We are delighted with the strong response and look forward to showcasing the breadth of research, innovation, and best practice from across the laboratory animal science community.
The conference program will feature keynote presentations, invited speakers, oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, providing valuable opportunities for learning, collaboration, and professional development.
We look forward to welcoming delegates to Brisbane for an engaging and inspiring conference.

If this is your first time submitting an abstract for the Conference, you must click on the blue ‘Create New Account’ button before being able to create your submission.
This will prompt you to enter your email address and create a password for your account. Once complete click on the ‘create’ button. You will then need to create a profile which is completed on the Contact Information tab. After creating a contact, additional tabs will appear that will enable you to submit, edit and withdraw any of your submission(s).
Note. If you have already created a profile, you will only need to enter your email address and password and click ‘Sign in’
Please remember that submitting an abstract does not automatically register you as a delegate. Presenters who fail to register by the due date risk having their presentation removed from the program.
